Trial 2 of Bindweed Wars: Boiling Water

After finding my newly-created raised bed full of bindweed from the weed barrier failure, I went looking for ideas to kill persistent weeds without chemicals. One suggestion was to simply pour boiling water over the area. That I can do.

After hard boiling some eggs I made sure the used water was at a rolling boil, then took my pan outside, picked some plants and poured it on. Easy peasy 🙂 Here are the results.

As you can see the plants look down for the count after a week. I’m not counting this a complete fix though, since cold weather has arrived and the plants probably won’t be doing much growing right now anyway. But they don’t look healthy either which I’m really liking right now.

Conclusion: Too soon to tell, but definitely going to keep trying this one
